Your Questions, Answered

  • HPF’s operations are primarily based in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. However, we are in the process of expanding our service base, and may still be able to help if you are located in another part of the United States.

Please contact us at help@hpawsforward.org to discuss your specific situation. We will try our best to help.

  • Anyone needing temporary care for their pets due to personal circumstances is eligible for assistance through the HPF Surrender Support Program. To qualify, you must provide proof of need such as an eviction notice or official enrollment at a shelter. If you are unsure if your proof of need qualifies, please reach out to us anyway and we will help determine the best course of action.

  • Of course! We have animal behaviorists on staff to help address and care for your dogs behavioral needs. We have seasoned foster families that are comfortable with caring for your pets behavioral or medical needs.

  • Although we are focused mainly on dogs and cats, we will work to accommodate your pet, regardless of their species.

Note: We have a limited number foster families that can take on a species outside of a cat or dog.

  • Nothing. However, we request an optional donation of $100 when your pet is on-boarded as a temporary foster. We also welcome monthly donations to help ensure your pet receives the best possible care while you are away!

  • Requested donations are optional to help support your pet in the best way possible, however if you are experiencing financial hardship, no donations are expected.

  • We can foster each individual pet for up to 12 cumulative months. If you need more time due to extenuating circumstances, you can apply for an extension, reunite with your pet, or relinquish your pet for re-homing.

  • We take deliberate steps to make sure each foster pet is treated with the utmost respect, care, and love while you are away. A few steps we take are:

    • Case Managers: Having a designated surrender support case manager to routinely support and check in on your pet throughout their time with an HPF foster family.

    • Resident behaviorist: We have a growing team of animal behaviorists that help monitor your dogs behavior to ensure any behavioral changes are addressed.

    • HPF Friends Portal: We have a portal specifically where foster families can share pictures of your beloved pet so you get to see all of the fun things your pet is doing!

  • Yes! Our surrender support case manager can facilitate visitation time between you and your pet at a nearby pet-friendly location.

  • No. We want to maintain confidentiality and distance between owners and foster families to ensure the safety of both individuals. We do have the HPF Friends Portal where foster families can share pictures of your beloved pet so you can stay up to date with your furry family member!

  • Of course! All of our participants remain confidential and are not shared without written approval from you. You deserve your privacy and we respect it.
