Why Surrender Support?
For individuals facing a personal crisis, the thought of surrendering a beloved pet to a shelter is devastating. Many temporary shelters or transitional housing facilities do not allow pets, forcing people to choose between a stable living situation and their companion. This can lead to increased stress, delayed re-entry into a stable environment, and unnecessary emotional trauma for both the owner and the animal.
Haider’s Paws Forward aims to prevent this heart-wrenching separation and reduce owner surrender to shelters and rescues, which currently makes up almost 1/4 of intakes nationwide and contributes to the “non-live outcomes”.
HPF establishes and trains a network of compassionate volunteer foster families who can provide short-term care for dogs. This system will is designed to alleviate the struggles individuals in crisis face.
