Foster A Pet, Foster Hope

Foster families are the key to provide support, relief, and hope to local pet owners in need by providing a temporary home for their pets that would otherwise have to be surrendered to a local shelter.

How Can I Foster?

As an HPF foster, you will be the source of stability and home to a pet that is at risk of being surrendered. You will serve as their steward until their original owner is in a position to reunite with their beloved pet.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a first-time pet parent, we’ve got your back. Our founder and behaviorist, Julie, has created a custom matching system to pair you with a foster pet that fits your specific lifestyle, energy, and experience level.

Ongoing Foster Training

During your time as a HPF foster, you will be paired with one of our Surrender Support Managers to ensure you are supported throughout your foster journey and have access to our local behavioral clinics to integrate your foster pet into your home with tailored training on:

  • Establishing Boundaries

  • Pack Leadership

  • Relationship Building

  • Socialization

  • Leash etiquette

  • Car etiquette

  • And More!
